PURPOSE:To obtain a reactor, reactor cooling system and reactor power plant and its operational method which is improved in reliability of cooling function during an accident by raising the gas cooling efficiency in the containment without using a particular active means. CONSTITUTION:Provided are an internal structure in a containment 10 containing coolant, an upper space 44 in the upper part of the containment 10, a first gas flow path flowing the gas in the upper space 44 downward and a second gas flow path connecting the first gas flow path and the upper space 44. Also, a means to circulate the gas in the containment 10 taking advantage of the decay heat is provided. Owing to the natural circulation in the wet well gas space including the containment upper space 44, N2, gas in the wet well gas space is not localized and gas temperature distribution is also made uniform and therefore, the improvement in the decay heat cooling efficiency by the air cooling in the containment 10 is possible.
