PURPOSE: To decrease at least one of particle size and the quantity of soot, in driving method of a diesl machine producing a driving power and exhaust gas contg. soot particles, by bringing exhaust gas into contact with a zeolite- contg. catalyst having an acidity. CONSTITUTION: An exhaust gas is brought into contact with a zeolite-contg. catalyst having an acidity in driving methods of a diesel machine producing a driving power and exhaust gas contg. soot particles. By the treatment, at least one of the size or the amount of soot particles is reduced.
