PURPOSE: To enable trace assay of superoxide anion at a high accuracy with higher sensitivity by using a specified cypridina luciferins derivative as luminescence reagent. ;CONSTITUTION: This method is for assaying superoxide anion by a chemiluminescence method and uses a cypridina luciferins derivative as given by the formula (1) or (2) as luminescence reagent. This also is for assaying superoxide anion extinction substance by a chemiluminescence method and assays superoxide anion after an unknown amount of a superoxide anion eliminated substance is caused to react with a known amount of superoxide anion. Under handy and mild conditions, the superoxide anion can be assayed at a high sensitivity with a high accuracy.
