METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR MEASURING ORGANIC SUBSTANCE MOLECULAR WEIGHT DISTRIBUTION

PURPOSE: To measure a molecular weight distribution of a very small amount of organic substance in water quickly and highly sensitively with high resolution. ;CONSTITUTION: After carrier gas is sent into effluent from a gel-filtered chromatograph to be a line-like gas-liquid two-phase flow, this is passed through an oxidation reacting tube wound like a coil around an ultraviolet ray source to convert contained organic carbon into carbon oxide, and the converted gas- liquid two-phase flow is discharged from a nozzle. This is a method and apparatus for measuring an organic substance molecular weight distribution wherein make-up gas is blown against the nozzle from a front and slantly downward to have a gas phase and a liquid phase separated, and carbon oxide contained in the separated phase is measured. A sharp peak can be obtained even if a high speed separation column is used. Use of FID is preferable. This is useful as a water quality analyzer.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1993,JPO&Japio
