METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR TRANSFERRING SUBSTANCE FROM CONTAMINATED ENCLOSURE TO SECOND ENCLOSURE WITHOUT CONTAMINATING SECOND ENCLOSURE

PURPOSE: To transfer a substance from a contaminated enclosure to a second enclosure without contaminating the second enclosure by engaging a transportation container containing an empty transfer chamber with the contaminated enclosure. ;CONSTITUTION: After coupled doors (C, F, H) are removed from a contaminated enclosure, a container and a transfer chamber, a substance to be transferred is introduced into the chamber without conducting a space surrounding the chamber on the inside of the container to the enclosure. The coupled doors (C, F, H) are then closed again and the container 20 is separated, transported and engaged with a second enclosure 16. Subsequently, coupled doors (B', C', F') are removed from the second enclosure and the container 20 and a transfer chamber 22 containing the substance is introduced into the second enclosure.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1993,JPO
