PURPOSE: To smoothly release control in a system executing creep prevention control. ;CONSTITUTION: In a system which prevents creep with a transmission section made neutral when specified, conditions meet requirements even if a shift lever is in each range of forward speeds, when creep control is released, engine torque is controlled to be lowered, so that the clutch for forward speeds is engaged in an early stage and the life of the clutch is lengthened. In this case, in order to cope with the frequent application of creep control without troubles, a method for throttling a throttle valve is employed as a means for lowering engine torque. The method for throttling the throttle valve, because of its poor responsiveness, is as follows: firstly the throttle valve is throttled in advance (step 207) to meet a condition just before engine torque is lowered while the transmission section is controlled to be neutral, and secondly the valve is continued to be furthermore throttled (step 210) as creep control is released.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1993,JPO&Japio
