PURPOSE:To promote the activity of a seedling for transplantation, decrease the amount of agricultural chemicals and fertilizers without using a grafting culture and suppress the occurrence of blight of seedling after transplantation. CONSTITUTION:A planting soil is preferably incorporated with =30wt.% (based on the dry weight of the planting soil) of hydrophilized carbon material having a pore diameter of 0.5-500mum and a pore volume of 0.05-1.5macute angle/g and/or incorporated with =20wt.% (based on the dry weight of the planting soil) of a sparingly soluble phosphoric acid salt. The above soil having an apparent specific gravity of 0.05-0.8 in dry state is used in combination with a small plant body and an organism infected with VA mycorrhizal bacteria and the plant is cultured to obtain the objective vigorous seedling.
