BRAZING FILLER METAL FOR CIRCULAR TRUNCATED CONE RING CONSISTING OF RAPIDLY SOLIDIFIED FOIL AND PRODUCTION THEREOF

PURPOSE: To easily produce the brazing filler metal of a circular truncated cone ring shape to be used for joining steel pipes not by blanking this material from a sheet but by injecting the molten brazing filler metal to a roll surface of a tapered shape and rapidly solidifying this material. ;CONSTITUTION: A roll 6 having a circular truncated cone shape is rotated at a high speed. A molten brazer 8 is sprayed to the tapered surface 7 of the roll through a nozzle 9 in proximity to the surface 7 and parallel with the surface from a container housing the brazer 8. The brazer 8 solidifies rapidly to form a foil-shaped tape 10 which has the circular truncated cone ring shape. Gases are sprayed from a nozzle 11 to the roll surface and the tape 10 is peeled and cut to a prescribed length.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1993,JPO&Japio
