PURPOSE: To obviate fuzziness of a state transition without increasing the processing amount, in a qualitative inference for analyzing qualitatively causal relation such as behavior of a device, etc., and a natural phenomenon, etc. ;CONSTITUTION: A landmark estimating part 32 estimates a value of the next boundary point related to each variable. An in-section state analyzing part 33 gives a value of the present boundary point derived by an in-instantaneous state analyzing part 31, and the estimated value of the next boundary point to each variable as a constraint condition, and derives a state of the next continued section. A landmark determining part 34 deletes the value of its boundary point from a candidate of the next migrated boundary point, in the case the estimated value of the next boundary point is not contained within a range which can be taken by each variable in the section derived by the in-section state analyzing part 33.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1993,JPO&Japio
