PURPOSE: To obtain a polymeric composition having excellent toughness, suitable for injection molding into a useful polymeric article by incorporating a particular basic nitrogen-containing polymer and a particular ethylene-methacrylate copolymer. ;CONSTITUTION: A polymeric composition comprises a semicrystalline ethylene- methacrylate copolymer having about 0.1 to about 10 mole % carboxylate groups blended with an amorphous basic nitrogen-containing polymer having about 4 to about 500 meq. of basic nitrogen per 100 g of an amorphous polymer. For example, the carboxylate group of the ethylene-methacrylate copolymer is neutralized with a basic substance such as an element of the groups IA, IIA, IB and IIB, lead, tin, antimony or aluminum. The polymeric blend is superior in toughness as compared to a non-functional, non-associating blend and suitable for injection molding into a useful polymeric article.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1993,JPO
