PURPOSE:To effectively use all of money stored in an external safe as replenishment money. CONSTITUTION:A money replenishing device 11 of an automatic transaction machine which takes in money from an external safe C1, whose attachment to and detachment from the automatic transaction machine is allowed, and discriminates the takenin money by a discriminating part 13 to replenish it to internal safes 15 to 17 classified by denominations is provided with a temporary pool part 14 which temporarily pools money in the succeeding stage of the discriminating part 13, a return carrying path L4 which is so connected that money in the temporary pool part 14 can be returned to the external safe C1, and a control means which temporarily pools money of a different denomination in the temporary pool part 14 at the time of discriminating taking-in of money of the different denomination other than a replnenishment requested denomination by the discriminating part 13 and returns money of the different denomination pooled in the temporary pool part 14 to the external safe C1 through the return carrying path L4 at the time of replenishment of the replenishment requested number of coins or notes.
