PURPOSE:To provide the subject new compound having antitumor action. CONSTITUTION:The compound of formula having the following physiological properties. Aerobic; liquefaction of gelatin, positive; coagulation of defatted milk, negative; peptonization of defatted milk, positive; hydrolysis of starch, positive; formation of melanin-like pigment, negative; composition of menaquinone, MK-9 (H6, H8). It has the following physical and chemical properties. Appearance, white powder; melting point, 72-76 deg.C; mass analysis, EIMS spectrum m/Z 566(M+); molecular formula, C31H50O9; molecular weight, 566; specific rotation, [alpha]25=20.0 (C=0.1, methanol); solubility, easily soluble in methanol, chloroform, acetone and ethyl acetate, scarcely soluble in n-hexane, insoluble in water; etc. The compound of formula can be produced by culturing Streptomyces hygroscopicus A-9561 (FERM P-12223) under aerobic condition, extracting the culture liquid with acetone and extracting the extract with ethyl acetate.
