PURPOSE: To obtain an org. nonlinear optical compd. with the second order and third order molecular nonlinear susceptibility enhanced and with monomolecular dispersion concn. in a medium increased by incorporating a specified compd. and a transparent medium into the compd. ;CONSTITUTION: This org. nonlinear optical compd. contains at least one kind of compd. shown by the formula and a transparent medium. In the formula, R¹ is cyan, nitro or trifluoromethyl groups, R², R³ and R⁴ are independently hydrogen atom, alkyls or substituted alkyls. The compd. can be dispersed in the medium in high concn., the soln. is most easily prepared without any troublesome means such as crystal growth, and a material having large nonlinearity and a wavelength shifting element are formed by spin coating, etc. Consequently, the compd. is widely used for an optical functional element based on the nonlinear optical effect.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1993,JPO&Japio
