PURPOSE: To provide a press section increasing the working speed of a paper- making machine by specifying the distance from a second press gap to a position taking up a band-shaped material from a water impervious press belt. CONSTITUTION: The distance from the second press gap II to the position 9 taking up the band-shaped material from the substantially water impervious press belt 8, is at least equal to the circumference of a center roller 0. The time, in which the band-shaped paper stays between the press gap and the taking-up position is extended and the taking-up resistance is reduced.
