HEAT EXCHANGER AND LOOP TYPE FAST BREEDER REACTOR USING THIS HEAT EXCHANGER

PURPOSE:To obtain a loop type fast breeder reactor reactor using an intermediate heat exchanger which prevents generation and growth of a cover gas suction vortex. CONSTITUTION:In a loop type fast breeder reactor having an intermediate heat exchanger 9 and an intermediate heat exchanger vessel 6 holding the intermediate heat exchanger 9, a piping 5 which transfers a primary coolant 3 from a reactor vessel to the intermediate heat exchanger vessel 6 is provided on the lateral side of the intermediate heat exchanger vessel 6 so that the blowoff direction of the primary coolant 3 from the piping 5 does not intersect the central axis of the intermediate heat exchanger 9 and that the velocity of the primary coolant 3 at the time when it blows off has a horizontal component. According to this constitution, it is possible to increase the safety of the loop type fast breeder reactor and to make this reactor small in size.
