METHOD AND DEVICE FOR CONTROLLING CUTTING OF SPACER WIRE OF NUCLEAR FUEL ROD

PURPOSE: To detect fault in cutting of wire by, prior to cutting of a spacer wire, supplying an electric potential different from that of a reference part, and measuring potential difference between the wire and the reference part. CONSTITUTION: A cutting device, by its action, brings a spacer wire 1 and a fuel rod 20 to a specified cutting electric potential VC. Then, the electric potential of a contact part 10 is continuously measured and then compared with a specified reference electric potential V. When the spacer wire 1 is cut, the electric potential of the contact part 10 remains without change. To the contrary, if the spacer wire 1 is not cut, the contact part 10 rises to the cutting electric potential VC and remains there. Thus, by continuously comparing the electric potential of the contact part 10 with the reference electric potential V, it is easy to judge whether the spacer wire 1 is actually cut or not, based on the presence of difference between the electric potential of the contact part 10 and the reference electric potential V.
