COMBINED DRYER OF LEVITATING CONVECTION AT WEB WITH INFRARED RAY

PURPOSE: To achieve a higher drying efficiency of a web by arranging a plurality of air bars above and below the web in a housing of a drier for non-contact convection drying of the web and an infrared gas burner in a required space between the adjacent air bars. CONSTITUTION: Upper and lower headers 14 and 15 respectively having header fingers 16a-16n and 17a-17n connected to a plurality of air bars 18a-18n and 19a-19n are installed in a housing 10 of a drier having inlet and outlet slots 11 and 12 as paths of a web 13. Air is supplied to the individual headers 14 and 15 through feed air inlets 24 and 25. Spacers are fitted to form compartments 20a-20n and 21a-21n for housing infrared gas fired burners 22a-22n and 23a-23n between the adjacent header fingers 16a-16n and 17a-17n. The infrared gas fired burners are made freely rotatable about 90 and the operation of the burners is stopped when the breaking of web is detected by a breaking detector.
