PNEUMATIC TIRE IMPROVED IN TRACTION PERFORMANCE ON WET ROAD SURFACE

PURPOSE: To provide a directional tire having an improved transaction characteristic on a wet road. CONSTITUTION: A circular aqua channel 12 and curved lateral grooves 14 are installed. For preventing hydroplaning, water is introduced by the aqua channel 12 and the lateral grooves 14 and it is driven out from a footprint to a shoulder band 20. Pitch boundaries between the respective portions of a tire, which are on both sides of the aqua channel 12, may be skewed. The noise characteristic of the tire is relieved owing to the curved lateral grooves 14 and the skewed pitch boundaries. Rounded leading and trailing edges exist in lugs 18. The leading edge groove wall angle is about five degrees and a trailing edge groove wall angle is about one degree. Thus, noise and irregular wear can be reduced.
