PURPOSE: To shorten the time for measurement of the moisture content of a sample by computing the moisture content and a change rate of the moisture content at each measuring point and by computing the moisture content in a final state from the moisture contents in a plurality and the change rates thereof for estimation. ;CONSTITUTION: After a sample is led onto a sample scale and an initial weight Wo of the sample is measured, the weight Wt of the sample is measured at each prescribed time Δt after heat drying of the sample is started, and a moisture content Mt is computed according to an equation I. A change rate ΔMt/Δtm of the moisture content is computed from a difference ΔMt between the moisture content Mt and the moisture content obtained one time before and from the prescribed time Δt and a final moisture content ME is estimated from an equation II ((a) denotes a constant).
