TEMPORARY CONSTRUCTION OF IMPERVIOUS WALL OF GROUND USING AGAR-AGAR AND THE LIKE

PURPOSE: To raise the efficiency of operation by reducing vibration and noise as well as enhance the water-shielding effect after temporary construction by a method in which small trench is excavated by wire saws in the surrounding ground of an underground construction site and an aqueous solution of agar-agar or gelatin is injected into the trench. ;CONSTITUTION: A vertical pit is excavated by preceding boring in the surrounding ground of an underground construction site, a guide column is set, and a guide pulley mechanism for wire saw is attached. The wire saw is set and a driver is operated and a shallow trench 7 is formed on the connecting line of two vertical pits. An aqueous solution 9 of agar-agar or gelatin is injected into the trench 7 through an injection pipe 8 by a pump. The temperature of the solution 9 is set to ordinary temperature to 100°C and its concentration is also set to 0.2-4%. The method is applied to four sides of the underground construction site repeatedly. Also, as needed, an anticeptic agent is added to the solution 9, and the solution 9 is also mixed with an organic glue such as CMC or protein and inorganic material such as soil, clay, and bentonite.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1993,JPO&Japio
