METHOD FOR PROCESSING END SURFACE OF SPACER FOR FUEL BUNDLE

PURPOSE:To prevent the increase of pressure loss without forming stagnation in the flow of a cooling material by forming the corner edges of the end surface of the spacer of a fuel bundle into a smooth shape. CONSTITUTION:A spacer 10 is set to the work table T of a laser processing device and a laser head H is opposed to the outside plate 11 of the spacer 10 or the end surfaces of longitudinal and lateral lattice plates 12 forming cells 13 holding fuel rods and moved along the end surfaces of the plates 12 while said end surfaces are irradiated with laser beam with required output and width from the laser head B. The end surfaces of the plates 11,12 are melted and the molten parts are immediately solidified to form the corner edges of the end surfaces into a streamline shape.
