PURPOSE: To obtain the pottery having excellent aesthetic characteristics, such as matte tone and metallic tone by applying a liquid mixture consisting of a luster liquid, mica powder and solvent on the surface of the pottery which is applied with matte glaze or right glaze and is calcined, then calcining the pottery. ;CONSTITUTION: The matte glaze 2 is applied on a green ware body 1 produced by a known method and is calcined to produce the pottery 3. The liquid mixture 5 prepd. by compounding 10 to 40 pts.wt. luster liquid consisting essentially of a titanium resinate, 0.1 to 2.5 pts.wt. fine powder of mica, and 10 to 40 pts.wt. solvent, such as turpentine oil or toluene is applied by a method, such as spraying, using a portable spray gun 6 to the surface of such substrate glaze layer 4. The glaze layer is then subjected to a calcination treatment at 700 to 900°C, by which the pottery of the matte tone suppressing the degree of luster to a deep and sober tone is obtd. The pottery having a glittering metallic tone combined with irregular reflections in the degree of luster is obtd. if the substrate glaze layer formed by applying the bright glaze on the green ware body 1 is used and is subjected to the similar treatment.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1993,JPO&Japio
