The invention concerns a device for determining the condition of a bending compensated roller. The roller 10 comprises a stationary roller shaft 11 on top of which there is arranged a rotating roller shell 12. The space between the roller shell 12 and the roller shaft 11 is divided into two parts by means of longitudinal seals 15 in such a way that it comprises a chamber 16 for printing medium on the nip side and a secondary chamber 17 on the opposite side of the longitudinal seals 15. The nip profile is arranged to be able to be adjusted using the printing medium which is taken to the pressure chamber 16. The roller 10 is provided with a pressure difference regulator 40 which connects together the pressure chamber 16 and the secondary chamber 17 of the roller 10 and divides the printing medium which is to be fed to the roller 10 between the pressure chamber 16 and the secondary chamber 17 according to the amount of leakage oil which goes from the pressure chamber 16 to the secondary chamber 17 past the longitudinal seals 15 of the roller 10. The pressure difference regulator 40 is provided with devices 50, 51 to determine during the operation of the machine the position of the pressure difference regulator 40 on the valve spindle 43 which is comparable with the condition of the roller 10.
