Method of producing steel for electrotechnical transformers and silicon current generators in a converter, by melting and refining to the required bath temperature, with the use of ladle transfer with the simultaneous addition of alloy ingredients and blowing through of argon, characterized in that following refinement of the converter charge, consisting of 30 to 35% metallurgical scrap and 65 to 70% liquid crude iron, to a carbon content of approximately 0.02% and a temperature of 1630 to 1650 degrees C and after a sample has been taken for pre-tapping analysis, the steel is run off into a tapping ladle, where preliminary deoxidation takes place, and on the basis of the results of samples made based on the sample taken in the converter, it is taken for further transformation into steel for transformers or silicon current generators by pouring it through an outlet with a diameter of up to 110 mm to an appropriate casting ladle containing the required quantities of alloy additives to achieve the correct chemical composition for the type of steel in question, argon being blown through in two stages during pouring, with further periodic correcting argonization after pouring is complete, a control sample being taken for chemical analysis, with a final correcting addition possibly being made to correct the chemical composition, argon being simultaneously blown through from below or from above, until the required casting temperature is obtained, and when processing is complete it is poured off into ingot moulds through an outlet with a diameter of up to 110 mm.
