Quick-acting clamping device with central centring for fixing a vehicle wheel on the shaft of a balancing machine, having a flange, arranged fixed on the shaft, to which the rim (3) of the vehicle wheel is applied with a frictional grip, having clamping means for tightening the rim against the flange, having a cone arrangement (12) which has an outer part with a cylindrical outer surface (14) for engaging in the centring hole of the vehicle wheel, and having a conical inner surface and an inner part (11) which has an inner bore for pushing the inner part onto the shaft of the balancing machine and a conical outer surface which is shaped in a manner complementary to the conical inner surface of the outer part (13) and bears against the latter, the inner part of the cone arrangement being prestressed by a spring (10) in the direction towards the centring hole (16), and a radial flange (17) which has a bearing surface (18) for bearing against the rim of the vehicle wheel, extending from the cylindrical outer surface (14) of the outer part of the cone arrangement. The outer part (13) is formed by mutually separated segments (23) which are held against the inner part (11) by spring means. The expandable elements of the outer part of the cone arrangement are constructed as segments which are completely independent of one another. They can therefore be moved virtually parallel to one another without hindrance over a relatively large range without thereby producing jamming, tilting or excessive bending. …IMAGE…
