PROCEDURE FOR THE OBTAINING OF TETRAHYDRO-1,4-BENZOQUINONE BY THE ACTION OF CHLORINE AND CHLORHYDRIC ACID ON HYDROQUINONE. THE PROCEDURE IS CHARACTERIZED BECAUSE IT IS ACTUATED ON 1 MOL OF HYDROQUINONE A QUANTITY 6 TO 7 TIMES OF 30-37% HCL AND A QUANTITY 1.9-2.1 TIMES OF GASEOUS CHLORINE, AT A TEMPERATURE OF 5-15 DEGREES C. THE SUSPENSION OBTAINED, WHICH CONTAINS BASICALLY 2,5-DICHLOROHIDROQUINONE, IS DILUTED WITH 2 TO 3 PARTS OF WATER, REFERING TO THE AMOUNT OF HYDROQUINONE USED, AND HEATS FIRST TO A TEMPERATURE OF 20-30 DEGREES C., THEN CONTINUATION, AT ATMOSPHERE ENVIRONMENT AND RAISING THE TEMPERATURE TO 90-100 DEGREES C, INTRODUCED A QUANTITY 1.9-2.1 TIMES OF CHLORINE GAS, DILUTING AT THE SAME TIME WITH 3.5 TO 4.5 PARTS OF WATER, REFERRED TO THE AMOUNT OF HYDROQUINONE USED. FINALLY, AT A TEMPERATURE OF 100-115 DEGREES C, A MOLAR CHLORINE GAS AMOUNT 1 TO 2 TIMES IS INTRODUCED, REFERING TO THE AMOUNT OF HYDROQUINONE USED.
