In a slush moulding process, particularly for the production of car instrument panels, a gelling powder which is preferably PVC or unplasticised PVC paste is introduced into the mould in the form of a heated tool open on one side, the powder is deposited on the heated surface and sintered in its gelling phase when the tool is opened, after which it is cooled and the product is demoulded. During the gelling phase the open side of the mould tool is covered with a heat reflector to enclose an inner space. ADVANTAGE - The method produces mouldings with a low rejection rate. The polymer gels completely even on the open side of the mould and it also has a uniform colour.
