AbstractThe invention proposes a fluid pressure loaded probe forexpanding a tube in portions and for simultaneously fixingseveral outer design elements such as cams, bearings and gearwheels, comprising a basic cylindrical member as well assealing members and spacer sleeves slid on alternately, withtube portions to be expanded being marked off from the tubeportions remaining undeformed, by the sealing elements. Inaccordance with the invention, the probe is characterisedby a device for bringing the spacer sleeves closer to eachother axially while simultaneously compressing and radiallyexpanding the sealing elements for pressing them againstthe inside of the tube, and by means for limiting the axialtravel of at least part of the spacer sleeves relative tothe basic probe member. In this way we provide a probe whichpermits simultaneous expansion of individual tube portionsin accurate positions accurately associated with slid-ondesign elements and which, while having a simple design,provides improved sealing as compared to prior art probesfor expanding several portions; it ensures stability of theseals and is easy to introduce into the tube.
