It has been found that aprojectile core formed of a brittle material already tends tobreak while being delivered to the firing weapon. To avoidthis danger, the brittle part of the projectile core isprestressed or pre-biased by a tie rod. The projectile corepreferably consists of three components, wherein theintermediate component is prestressed and the contact surfacesbetween these three components are substantially conicallystructured.
