25861-17Abstract of the Disclosure:A method and apparatus for generating saturated steam by thecombustion of chlorine and hydrogen to produce hydrogenchloride gas includes combusting chlorine and hydrogen toproduce hydrogen chloride gas in an elongated synthesis ovenhaving an upper segment, a lower segment and a middle segmenthaving a wall in the form of a heat exchanger. A heattransfer medium is recirculated between the heat exchangerand a steam generator while heating the heat transfer mediumto between 170 and 230°C by heat exchange between the heat ofthe combustion and the heat transfer medium. Saturated steamis generated from water at a pressure of at least 7 bar inthe steam generator.
