ABSTRACTThe compact, integrated, multi-function valve employedin semi-trailer brake systems having a plurality of pressurizedair reservoirs comprises a plurality of internal passageways andports communicating externally, a plurality of internal controlmeans for interrupting or establishing fluid communicationbetween the various internal passageways and a plurality of one-way means to ensure the integrity of the brake system in theevent of leakage problems with one or the other of thepressurized air reservoirs. A preferred embodiment of the brakevalve employs four sets of internal passageways and ports, twocontrol means and two multi-function one-way means. As comparedwith the prior art, the improved brake valve protects theintegrity of the brake system with lass complexity, fewercomponents and the potential for enhanced reliability, reducedmaintenance and overall lower costs.
