A set of post-surgical gross pathology specimen marking devices (10) which may be used to identify various surfaces of pathology specimens is presented. The device comprises a set of pathology specimen markers which are releasably attached to a holder (58). The markers disclosed are of various shapes and designs, and each includes a gripper element (26). The markers are designed such that the gripper element may be manipulated to allow a portion of a pathology specimen to be pinched, pierced, or clipped by the gripper element thereby attaching the marker to the specimen. The markers are designed so they may be manipulated by using a tool (198u) (such as forceps) to attach the specimen marker to a pathology specimen in a matter of seconds.
