A method of interconnecting metal strips for use in electrical components by means of an extrusion riveting technique. In one embodiment a hole (9) is punched into a metal strip (7), producing a rough surface on the inside of the hole, and another metal strip (11) is placed to overlie the hole and material from the other strip (11) is pressed partially into the hole (9). In another embodiment, a recessed portion is formed in a metal strip, another metal strip is laid with one end within the recessed portion, and a punch is pressed over and on the strip to extrude material from the first strip over the edge of the other strip in the recessed portion.
