The present invention relates to a sinterable raw material powder for ceramics based on aluminium titanate, comprising particles having an oxide, oxide hydrate or hydroxide core of the elements aluminium or titanium and a precipitated coating of insoluble compounds of the other element in each case and insoluble compounds of further elements, the titanium:aluminium molar ratio being from 1:0.1 to 1:30, to a process for the preparation of this raw material powder, to sintered mouldings produced therefrom, and to their use.
