The invention relates to a collecting and sorting device for domestic refuse which can be accommodated in an existing kitchen facility, preferably under the sink, and in which the domestic refuse produced is divided into at least four fractions. In such a device, provision is made according to the invention for it to consist of two superposed containers (4, 5), of approximately square shape, whose height is less than the diagonal of their bottom surface. The lower container (4) is open at its end surface pointing towards the unit door (20), and the upper container (5) is open at the top in the manner of a filing tray. Two buckets (6, 8), which when the unit door is closed are situated above the upper container, are removably attached, e.g. suspended, on the unit door (20). IMAGE
