The invention relates to a method for the partially continuous melting of ceramic material (4) by inductive melting in high-frequency and medium-frequency induction melting furnaces, the melting coil (1) of which encases a sintered crust crucible (3) and contains an outlet device (6), the melt (4) being drained periodically and material (8) to be melted is fed to the crucible (3); a gutter (6) is used as the outlet device and is intensively cooled; for tapping the melt, an automatically controllable tapping lance (20) of a tapping device (11 to 21) detects and raises the melting nose on the trough from below and then taps the lance (20) between the bottom of the trough (6) and the solidified melt until the puncture of the sintered crust. The process allows the process to be handled safely and economically and the quality of the melt products to be maintained.
