A food storage or display box is made up of two stackable convex or concave shells made of plastic or metal of identical shape. The opposite closing edges of the shells are centered on one another by corrugations (1) for supporting retaining faces (2) oriented towards the center; these corrugations extend around the outer edges adjacent to the closure edges, so that the corrugation of one shell rests with its retaining edge on the outer edge of the other shell, and vice versa, while the elastic corrugations overlap. A locking protuberance (3 ') formed on the retaining surface locks the stacking edge of another shell when the shells are pressed one on the other with their closing edges (6, 6') joined together, firmly connecting the two half-shells so as to form a box.
