Helicopter including: . a single main forward motion and lift rotor; and . a counter-torque system comprising: - an auxiliary counter-torque rotor driven in rotation from motor means of the said main rotor and exerting a controllable counter-torque lateral thrust; and - at least one aerodynamic steering surface (14) which is controllable in orientation and generates a counter-torque transverse lift.
