INCREASING THE OXIDATION RESISTANCE OF MOLYBDENUM AND ITS USE FOR LAMP SEALS

Disclosure is given for a seal between molybdenum (16) and a vitreous material (10) and its use for lamp seals in oxidizing environment at elevated temperature by applying alkali metal silicate to the surface of that portion of the molybdenum in the seal area (19) which is exposed to said oxidizing environment.
