Outlet mechanism for a vessel contg. molten metal - comprises a plug rod which retains its articulation at high temps. housed in jacket pipe, with spherical surfaced rod heads interacting with bearing element surfaces etc.
The outlet mechanism comprises a plug rod (5) which is housed with clearances in a jacket pipe (10) immersed in molten metal held by a metallurgical vessel. The rod head (11) is provided with spherical surfaces (80) and (84) which interact respectively with the surfaces (82) and (86) of its bearing elements (a filling (78) and a sleeve (88)). The rod head (11) has a clearance (S) between the bearing surface (82) and (86), while the centres of the radii (R1) and (R2) of the surfaces (80) and (84) lie on the longitudinal axis (M) of the plug rod (5). At least the surfaces (80) and (82) belong to different materials. Pref. the radius (R1) is larger than the radius (R2). The surfaces (84) and (86) belong to different materials. The surface (82) is spherical, while the surface (86) is conical. Alternatively, the surface (82) is plane. USE/ADVANTAGE - Mechanism can be used in the metallurgical industry. It eliminates the danger of loss of angular mobility of the plug rod at high temps., which is experienced with prior art mechanisms.
