Display for competitor ranking when competitors start sequentially

The display system has detectors along the length of a track to record passing of a competitor in a sporting event . The time when a competitor passes each detector (Dk) is stored (4). The times when each competitor passed each detector are retained for comparison with times of the competitor currently on the track. The competitor ranking can be calculated continuously from these stored times. The location of a competitor on the track, their ranking, and their name and country are displayed on large screens.
