A cable nut is arranged in a chamber contg. two sets of concentric grooves (11,16) in which lengths of cable (27,28) are coiled in opposite directions. The reversals (27A,28A) between the two lengths move through half of the distance travelled in rotation by the upper part (2) w.r.t. the lower part (1) of the housing, moving from one set of grooves to the other if and only if the two parts are assembled correctly. ADVANTAGE - Incorrect assembly is indicated simply but reliably by tension in one or more cable elements.
