A reactor for carrying out reactions using biocatalsyts in a two phase, liquid system, comprises a container in which the biocatalyst and two phase liq. are placed and which is fitted with a stirred at the top, a coding/heating jacket and an overflow device with a filter sieve which is connected to a pipe through which the liq. phases circulate via a pump and an inlet device with a filter sieve so that the liquid is recycled to the reactor. The container and pump have dimensions such that the two phase liq. which has been mixed by the action of the pump, does not separate out during its passage through the container.
