A circuit for controlling generation of acknowledgement and busy signals in a Centronics compatible parallel interface has a Centronics interface cable connected to produce a strobe signal when data are received from a data communications device. - A busy signal is generated in reaction to the strobe signal and a control signal. A CPU generates a received data processing termination signal in response to the busy signal. An acknowledgement signal is generated in response to the termination signal.
