To combine the feed of materials for melting, esp. cold and wet glass quantities and hot glass fragments for glass production, where they are weighed separately, the dosed and weighed feeds are brought together at the smelting furnace or at only a small gap from it. Pref. the glass volume and the glass fragments are fed on parallel paths, over each other, and at the same speed. The machine (15) to deposit the material has separate holding stations and combined feeds for the glass (8) and glass fragments (11). A vibrating feed trough (29) has an intermediate floor level (32) to form two channels (34,35) for the glass (8) and fragments (11). A delivery funnel (30,31) for the glass (8) and fragments (11) is at the entry end of the two channels (34,35). The intermediate floor (32) is shorter than the base (37) of the lower channel (35) in the vibration feed trough (29). ADVANTAGE - The material is not affected by external influence before reaching the smelting furnace, and there is reduced heat loss in the heated glass fragments through the carrier path length to the furnace, with less development of steam.
