The core (3) of each of the three strings, the G, the B, and the E, is composed of many nylon threads (4), around which is a metal layer (2) formed by wound metal wire comprising copper, zinc, brass or bronze. A plastics strip (6) is then wound around the metal layer for protection purposes (1). The protective layer has a thickness between 0.050mm and 0.070mm, and the thickness of the metal layer is likewise. The metal wire (5) and the protective layer plastic strips are wound in opposite directions.
