Combined rudder and drive for boat - hydraulically powered drive units mounted within rudder body

The rudder body is connected to the vessel hull by a shaft comprising of an inner and an outer pipe. The inner pipe contains a hydraulic feed which drives an outer drive wheel which in turn operates a series of propellers mounted in the rudder body. The outer pipe serves as the hydraulic return. Vessel control is obtained by rotating the shaft and thus the propeller. USE/ADVANTAGE - With hydraulic power source, location of power and pack and propeller not interdependent.
