Method of disposal of household refuse - by separating soft refuse from hard refuse and making compost from soft refuse

In order to utilise household refuse, the hard refuse is first separated from the soft refuse by a machine (1) which houses a rotating drum (8). The refuse is loaded into a hopper (3) which has a chute (2) which leads into the open end of the rotating drum (8). The cylindrical wall of the drum is perforated and the drum rotates about a central pipe (10) which is fitted with nozzles (13). These nozzles emit high pressure jets of water which wash the softer refuse out through the holes in the drum periphery. The mixture of soft refuse and water flows out through the lower part (16) of the machine housing. The hard refuse flows axially through the drum and is discharged onto a conveyor (6). USE/ADVANTAGE - Disposal of household refuse. The soft refuse can be used to make garden compost.
