The wind sifter housing is a vertical cylinder with an axial outlet (6) at the bottom for coarse particles and an axial outlet (22) at the upper end for air laden with the fine particles. Particles to be separated are admitted through a radial inlet (9). Just above the coarse particle outlet is a radial inlet (8) for inward air flow. Large particles, not falling downwards, are separated out at the impeller (10), the fine particles being entrained in the air flow from its periphery to the axial outlet. The latter is divided into several separate openings arranged symmetrically around the rotational axis of the impeller. ADVANTAGE - Improved separation in a simple design.
