Procedure for detection of isocyanatis in body fluids, partic. in bodily representative samples of human blood albumin, being novel in that the subject under test provides a sample of body fluid, partic. blood, before and after inhaling isocyanate-contg. vapour, and that each of these samples, are presented to a solid ion-exchanger matrix, the samples eluted with a solvent, and finally the succesive samples of eluted albumin are analysed by spectrophotometer over specific wavelengths and the resulting curves compared against a standard. USE/ADVANTAGE - Simple procedure requiring minimal test equipment, specialist personnel and time (20 min.), which examines the damage caused by isocyanate to albumin protein; the procedure is likely to be of use for maintaining the health of workers in the polyurthane production industries, partic. in foam prodn.
